April 25 — A Lull in the Action

After a most excellent day on the snow, and the resolution not to join the gazillions of people that would thrash on the slopes during Easter weekend, we spent the weekend debating what to do, where to go next. The original, original plan was to head north from the home base back in March, heading up through Oregon and Washington and then up into Canada to Whistler/Blackcomb. We started out that way, heading up along Highway 1. We only made it as far as Bodega Bay before we heard of the big storm dumping on Tahoe, and we backtracked a bit to catch the freshies in our home state. Well, you know what happened from there...we just kept heading east.

A bit blurry...decisions, decisions.

So the next plan, after boarding Colorado, was to head up through Wyoming and Idaho into Canada, going westward toward Vancouver. Eventually we would cut down through the middle of the nation into Texas, then across the deep south. Well, after much debate, we decided to save the Pacific Northwest for the return trip. Summer is running around the corner, and we didn't want to end up in Alabama in July when it's 97 with 342% humidity. So we let the seasons guide us and we finally decided to flee for the gulf.

We ask for your forgiveness, dear readers, for our temporary remission from our duties. In the scope of days between Keystone and this, our priorities slipped. We became lax in sharing our dilemma, lax in searching out the adventure. We spent some time working and reading and debating. But now we're back on track. We're heading down to Mexico's Ocean, traversing into the spring sports: surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding....hopefully the Gulf will be kind.
