September 1 The Wrong Month
O.K. Everyone has told us Hatteras this, Hatteras that, it's windy windy windy. We've been here for a week and if a day squeaked out 15 miles per hour we were stoked. But most of the time it was more like a puff that almost rustled the reeds.
And it has rained every day. A lot.
So it doesn't quite seem like summer, but it's not quite fall. Fall is when it's windy. Now they tell us. A local on the beach told me today that perhaps the only month worse than August was July, for wind. So we made it here in the wrong month, but we've met some great people on the beach, and apparently it never rains this much. Gracie is happy it's been raining, because all the grass throughout the campground is green...a rare treat for this time of the year.
And although the weather channel keeps reporting "scattered showers and thunderstorms" the sun should manage to peek out, and the wind will manage to pick up pretty soon.
So this update is short, and sort of content-less. But rather than write about drives between beaches and waiting out the rain, I thought I'd just give a general synopsis, so there you have it. The big Labor Day Weekend is coming up...perhaps the weather will keep the crowds down.
You must always look for the positive in everything. It helps.
Oh yeah, one other thing happenedwe got engaged. Funny what rain will do.
