Sugar Bowl - North Lake Tahoe

Founded in 1939, Sugar Bowl holds the honor as the oldest ski resort in California, and rumors abound that it was the first resort in the nation. Sugar Bowl has come a long way since its humble horse drawn "lifts," now boasting nine lifts (three high speed quads).

Since all but two of the lifts are quad chairs, the time spent waiting in lift lines is minimal - a definite plus. Since they opened up the new part of the mountain a few years ago, Sugar Bowl has become one of the premier resorts for skiers and boarders in the Tahoe area. The lift operators were extremely friendly and the conditions were continuous POW under overcast skies.
