In spite of all the coastline, it seemed that Maine's activity strengths lied inland, with hiking, biking and mountain boarding. As it is, with all the craggy bays, inlets, and spits of land the coast forms a maze of waterways with changing views from each new vista. Sadly, the coastal property is largely privately owned which leaves few options for the water loving public. I think the ideal way to see Maine would be to cruise her shores in a sailboat.
